Four New Projects!

by sarah.cunningham 12. January 2010 11:15

Hi all! So it's been a while since the last blog post, sorry about that! Today we've got some exciting news to share with you about four new projects we've signed on. Right before Christmas break, we were contacted by J.R. Sauder, owner of Two Fish Mgmt., LLC.  He runs an investment management industry and works to help people keep track of the money they've invested. He does not have a current site, so the Fellows are happy to design and build one to help him market Two Fish and spread the word about his business. Next is Lisette Drummond, whose daughters started Ruby Law and Finances 101. Ruby Law counsels individuals and businesses on estate and succession planning and administration as well as business issues. Ruby Law does have an existing site, and the address is www.ruby-law.com so you can head over for a "before" look. Finances 101 is a business that would be very interesting to young professionals because they help them focus and plan for their financial future. They offer seminars, which you can check out on their existing site at www.finances101.us. Last but not least, we are excited to begin working on Santiago Jaramillo's project called Weston Rock Camp. He recently moved from Florida to Indiana, and is looking to change his Web site to match his location change. His business helps kids ages 6-14 discover the joy of music and playing in a band with his day summer camp. He combines music lessons with fun, and from a look at his Facebook album, it looks like the kids have fun! You can check out this album by clicking on the link on his existing home page at www.westonrockcamp.com.

The Fellows are very excited to begin working with all these new clients and are looking forward to the new designs we will create and the new lessons we will learn.

Big Changes at BitWise Fellows!

by sarah.cunningham 3. July 2009 05:37

It's the end of another school year at BitWise Fellows, which means that old Fellows are leaving and new Fellows are coming in.  Four Fellows have graduated, so four new Fellows have been hired!  President Josh Cunningham, a graduated senior, is sadly leaving the Fellows and will be going to college at Purdue University with a major in economics.  Josh will be replaced by A.J. Gorsage, a junior at Guerin High School.  Michael Ratliff, project manager, will be going to Ivy Tech College in the fall but will be replaced by Josh Moes, a senior at Covenant Christian High School.  Both the Fellows developers, Alex Hearn and Sahil Yahkmi, have graduated and are heading to Indiana University and Columbia University, respectively.  They will be replaced by new hires Stephen Weaver, a homeschooled junior, and Michael Wintermeyer, a senior at Park Tudor.
It will be sad day at the Fellows when we lose Josh, Michael, Alex, and Sahil, but we are looking forward to another era with a new set of high school students.  Exciting new things are happening at the Fellows!  Have a safe and fun fourth of July everybody!

The Awesomeness That Is...

by sarah.cunningham 5. March 2009 12:18

FELLOWS T-SHIRTS!

Yep, we got our very own BitWise Fellows t-shirts recently, and they’re the bomb diggity! Emblazoned across the front is a captivating image of a BitWise Fellows coat-of-arms, and on the back is a giant logo complete with our URL, www.bitwisefellows.com.  We ordered them from Spreadshirt, Inc., and they did an amazing job, so be sure to check them out if you need a custom-made shirt — www.vintagedesignertshirts.spreadshirt.com. They shipped incredibly fast and arrived exactly as we ordered them, so we are immensely pleased with their work.  We’ll be wearing these shirts out and about to promote our business, so if you see someone wearing a giant BitWise logo, it’sone of us!

Fellows Acronymn!

by sarah.cunningham 16. January 2009 05:03

So what does it take for a group of high school students to run a small business?  It takes time, responsibility, and creativity.

Remember we’re high school students, so time management is a huge lesson that a Fellow learns during the course of his/her employment.  Juggling school, Fellows, and the rest of life is difficult and most importantly, takes responsibility.  It’s quite a reality check to be finished with homework, then have to move on to work when all you want to do is curl up on a couch and watch Youtube. After school, work is the next priority.  Real clients are waiting for their projects to be completed, so putting off work is not an option.

Fantastic

Excellent

Laudable

Lovable

Overwhelming

Web design!

Yep, you guessed it—the Fellows are a very unique and creative company!  Think about it: How many businesses do you know of that are run responsibly and effectively by a group of high school students?  The Fellows strive to utilize this distinct quality in every aspect of our business, from youthful designs to creative marketing.  Being a Fellow is not easy, but it certainly is worthwhile.

And hey, who wouldn’t want a job where you can think up awesome acronyms to put in your company post?

Fellows' Christmas Post

by sarah.cunningham 18. December 2008 10:57

Did you know that 75 pounds of food can feed a family of four for about a week?

Hey guys! These past few weeks I (Sarah) have been part of something really cool, and I just wanted to share about it with everyone. The youth group at the church Josh Cunningham and I attend (Centennial Bible Church www.centennicalbiblechurch.com) has been raising money for the Red Cross Center in Noblesville, Indiana. We raised a total of $1000 and with it were able to purchase over 900 pounds of food from Costco!  So using the information from the first sentence, that can feed about twelve families.  Last night we actually went to the Red Cross Center and helped to arrange, package, and stock all the food, and it was a BLAST.  I would encourage everyone to volunteer your spare time, because it had a big impact on me.  I went home to a nice, warm house and then ate a really good dinner.  Honestly, it made me feel a little guilty, and at the same time very thankful.

So to sum it all up, I would encourage everybody to donate and/or volunteer for the Red Cross Center.  I know it’s hard to find the time and the extra money, but it’s worth it to help out families in desperate need. Check out www.redcross-indy.org for more info!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

New Project added today!

by sarah.cunningham 11. December 2008 12:48

Today we began a NEW PROJECT with Nick Heldman from Heldman Exteriors, Inc.! Heldman Exteriors is a company located in Central Indiana that provides various services including roofing, siding, windows and doors.  They do not have a Web site, so a place to display information about their company and give users a feel for their different services is desired. We will be posting updates along the way so you can get an idea of the different stages of the Web site creation and can celebrate its completion with us!

The Fellows also recently finshed a Web site for Environmental Water Solutions, LLC, www.ewstreatment.com, so be sure to check it out!

Check back next week: same Fellows time, same Fellows channel for a new post!
